Charting our path forward

We are evolving to better support the one in five Ontarians living with lung disease

Lung disease continues to place a profound burden on patients and their families. It is also places a large – and growing – economic burden on every provincial healthcare system across Canada.

Given the staggering gaps we are uncovering in the diagnosis, treatment, and support of Canadians living with asthmalung cancer, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), it is clear that “status quo” is no longer an option, and the time to change is now.

With a century of work under our belt, we are well positioned to lead the way into the next era of improving the lung health of Canadians. To be able to serve Canadians in the most effective and efficient way possible, the Ontario Lung Association is evolving. As of February 26, 2020, we will forge a new way forward as the Lung Health Foundation.

We are excited to introduce a fresh brand identity that will be launched alongside a bold new strategic plan. Our uniquely integrated approach to lung health  will lay a foundation that will allow our programs, research investments, policy and practice change advocacy, and public education efforts to grow and have greater impact. The Lung Health Foundation will also be instrumental in helping all Canadians navigate and better understand lung health topics like immunization, smoking/vaping prevention and cessation, and access to medications and treatments.

We are excited to start this new chapter in our history, and look forward to doing it with supporters like you by our side.

Lung disease places a profound burden on patients and their families. It is also places a large – and growing – economic burden on every provincial healthcare system across Canada.

Given the staggering gaps we have uncovered in the diagnosis, treatment, and support of Canadians living with asthma, lung cancer, and chronic obstructive pulmonary disease (COPD), it is clear that “status quo” is no longer an option, and the time to change is now.

In reverence to our century-long legacy of driving lung health breakthroughs, and in recognition of the challenges patients still face today, the Ontario Lung Association is evolving. As of February 26, 2020, we will forge a new way forward as the Lung Health Foundation.

Despite a fresh brand identity and a bold new strategic plan, helping Ontarians breathe will always be our passion. In fact, our new approach is laying a foundation that will allow our programs, research investments, policy and practice change advocacy, and public education efforts to grow. The Lung Health Foundation will also be instrumental in helping all Canadians navigate lung health topics like immunization, smoking/vaping prevention and cessation, and access to medications/treatments.

Thanks to supporters like you, we are well positioned to lead the way into the next era of improving the lung health.
