Seasonal vaccination is the single most important thing you can do to protect yourself from influenza (the flu) and its complications, but many Canadians aren’t rolling up their sleeves. If you’re still on the fence (or have a loved one who is), our next digital event is for you.
We’re going live — Facebook Live — to bring you the truth about the flu shot. Our broadcast begins at 8:00 p.m. EST on Thursday, October 24. Our panel of experts will answer your questions on the spot – simply type your question in the comments section of the video!
Dr. Alan Kaplan is a family physician practicing in Richmond Hill, Ontario. In addition to making the most of his patients’ health, Dr. Kaplan is Chairperson of the Family Physician Airways Group of Canada and is highly active in respiratory health initiatives worldwide. He will help you understand how virus strains work, and he will explain the various types of vaccines available to Ontarians.
Umberto Leone is a practicing pharmacist and pharmacy educator. He’s also the loving son and caregiver of an elderly father who has survived a dangerous case of the flu and experienced a cascade of complications. Umberto’s dual perspective will help you understand how the flu can affect families, and what you can do to reduce your risk of catching it.
Chris Haromy is a Registered Respiratory Therapist and Certified Respiratory Educator. You may recognize his voice, as he has been providing one-on-one patient education through our Lung Health Line for the past 16 years! Chris will be moderating this session, and he will help you understand why seasonal vaccination is an important aspect of maintaining your lung health.
