Thanksgiving 2019: 5 Things We’re Thankful For

Oct 11, 2019

The Ontario Lung Association wishes you a happy and healthy Thanksgiving weekend. Here are five things that we are grateful for this autumn:

5. The flu shot

The seasonal flu vaccine is everybody’s best defense against influenza. We’re so thankful for the protection it offers that on the evening of October 24, we’re bringing together experts to answer all your questions through an interactive Facebook live stream!  Visit our Facebook community and like our page to stay in the loop.

4. The pneumococcal pneumonia shot

For people 65 years or older, an inoculation with the pneumococcal vaccine offers protection against bacterial pneumonia that can lead to complications, a hospital stay, or even death. We are thankful that the pneumococcal vaccine helps keep our seniors healthy!

3. More hope for lung cancer patients

According to new data published by The Lancet Oncology, Canada has among the highest survival rates for lung cancer. We are thankful that lung cancer patients are living longer and stronger, and for the impact we are able to have in supporting them throughout their journeys.

2. Our researchers

Our investigators are involved in projects that cover all the bases, from studying how diseases work to developing real-world therapies. We are thankful that there are so many brilliant minds working tirelessly to solve the biggest challenges in lung health.

1. You. Yes, each and every one of you

Most of all, we are thankful for a growing network of donors, supporters, patient ambassadors and volunteers who are helping drive lung health awareness within their families, workplaces, and communities. Thanksgiving 2019 is the perfect time to express our gratitude. Thank you!
