The Ontario Lung Association’s Pre-Budget Submission

Feb 08, 2014

The Ontario Lung Association recommends immediate action be taken to address the human and economic crisis of lung disease with an investment of up to $21 million over the next four years. This investment can be broken down into three recommendations:

  1. Increase tobacco taxes in the province of Ontario to pay for lung health programs
  2. The creation of an Ontario Lung Health Advisory Council and to begin implementation of priority projects and action items with immediate patient benefit which are identified by the Council
  3. Addition of 200 additional Certified Respiratory Educators to the system

By investing in the above recommendations, the Ontario government will see considerable short and long-term health and economic benefits in every community in Ontario.
