Lung Research Champion Honoured with International Award

Feb 18, 2015

Dr. Dina Brooks, champion for lung research

The Ontario Lung Association congratulates Dr. Dina Brooks, a tireless champion for lung research, on her selection by the World Confederation for Physical Therapy executive committee to receive an International Service Award in the area of research.

Dr. Brooks is a professor of physical therapy at the University of Toronto and an internationally recognized leader in cardiorespiratory rehabilitation whose research has led to significant improvement in patient care and a better understanding of lung disease.

She is an ambassador for Breathing as One, the national fundraising campaign supporting the Canadian Lung Association’s new respiratory research strategy, and has made important contributions as a volunteer for The Lung Association and the Ontario Respiratory Care Society.

The World Confederation for Physical Therapy award honours individuals who have made a significant contribution to physical therapy internationally or within their region. Dr. Brooks was nominated for the award by the International Confederation of Cardiorespiratory Physical Therapists.

She will receive the award on April 30 in Singapore.
