It is hard to predict the progression of the disease because it can be very different from one person to another. For some, the course of the disease can be relatively stable. For others, the disease may progress more quickly. Flare-ups make it worse. You can try to lessen your risk of a flare-up by getting a flu shot, proper hand washing, staying away from people with infection and avoiding environmental irritants.
