CERTIFIED RESPIRATORY EDUCATORS ARE STANDING BY. Need a direct line to information on asthma, COPD, pulmonary fibrosis? Whether you’re calling about yourself or someone you care about, we are here to help. The Lung Association offers free information and guidance on a variety of lung health concerns including breathing conditions, smoking cessation counselling, and indoor and outdoor air quality issues.

Meet our Certified Respiratory Educators (CREs)

Diane Feldman

Registered Respiratory Therapist, Certified Respiratory Educator, Certified Tobacco Educator

Diane has worked as a Registered Respiratory Therapist/Certified Respiratory Educator for The Lung Association- Ontario more than 15 years. Prior to that, she worked as a Registered Respiratory Therapist in an acute care hospital. Her specific interest is in asthma and COPD management as well as other lung diseases, smoking cessation and air quality.

 

Maha Alrimali

Registered Pharmacist, Certified Respiratory Educator

Maha has been a pharmacist for over a decade and became a CRE in 2017 , patient education is her secret passion.   She currently works in front-line community pharmacy practice to apply her clinical knowledge and to promote patient care outcomes specially in lung diseases.

 

Chris Haromy

BSc, Registered Respiratory Therapist, Certified Respiratory Educator

Chris is a Respiratory Therapist and Certified Respiratory Educator at The Lung Association – Ontario. Early in his career he worked as a Respiratory Therapist at Mount Sinai Hospital in Toronto. He then switched his focus to education, and for the last 14 years has developed and provided patient education programs with The Lung Association – Ontario. Chris is also a faculty member with the RESPTREC™ program, facilitating Asthma, COPD and Education for Chronic Disease workshops for health-care professionals.

 

Lana Biro

Registered Respiratory Therapist, Certified Respiratory Educator

Lana Biro is a Curriculum Developer for the Provider Education Program. As a Registered Respiratory Therapist and a Certified Respiratory Educator, Lana has a strong interest in promoting respiratory health. She has been involved with numerous lung health advocacy initiatives including Lung Health Information Line, Lung Health Ambassadors and COPD support groups. Lana enjoys facilitating RespTREC® and Motivational Interviewing workshops in Ontario.

 

Carole Madeley

Registered Respiratory Therapist, Certified Respiratory Educator , MAppSc(RespSc)

Carole has worked as a Registered Respiratory Therapist for over 35 years. She is Director of Respiratory Health Programs. Carole has developed Asthma, COPD, Pulmonary Rehabilitation and Maintenance Exercise Programs, in acute care and in community based settings. Carole is bilingual and she supports our Lung Health Information Line, especially with our French clients.

 

Rosario Holmes

Registered Respiratory Therapist, Certified Respiratory Educator

Rosario is a Certify Respiratory Educator, Registered Respiratory Therapist .  She works at the Lung Association Respiratory health center in Ottawa as a COPD and Asthma educator.   Rosario also has a Bachelor in Psychology and a Masters in special Education.

 

Sara Han

BSc., Registered Respiratory Therapist, Certified Respiratory Educator

Sara has been a Registered Respiratory Therapist (RRT) since 2007 and a certified respiratory educator (CRE) since 2009. She currently works at The Lung Association as the Primary Care Asthma program (PCAP) Provincial Coordinator.

 

Jennifer MacKinnon

B.Sc., Registered Respiratory Therapist, Certified Respiratory Educator

Jennifer is a Respiratory Therapist and Certified Respiratory Educator with a background that includes twenty years working in respiratory home care. During this time she had the opportunity to lead healthcare teams and implement many programs and services in the community setting. In 2016, she joined The Lung Association’s Provider Education Program team as Curriculum Developer and, in 2017, became the Program Manager. She has a strong interest in promoting respiratory health and her interests include patient and provider education, and quality improvement.

 

Jay Beaupre

Registered Respiratory Therapist, Certified Respiratory Educator, TEACH

Jay is a Registered Respiratory Therapist since 2008 and Certified Respiratory Educator since 2013.  He previously worked as a Respiratory Technician in Northern Ontario, as well as a Registered Respiratory Therapist in a rehabilitation hospital in Alberta and in an acute care hospital in Manitoba.  He recently worked as a Certified Respiratory Educator in primary care in Southern Ontario.  His interests are in asthma and COPD education, prevention and quality innovation.  He is French speaking and supports our Lung Health Information Line.
