Quit & Get Fit is based on scientific studies that demonstrate how physical activity can help reduce cigarette cravings and withdrawal symptoms and can also assist in curbing possible post-quitting weight gain.
Based on this evidence, The Lung Association developed Quit & Get Fit to move smoking cessation into a community-based fitness environment. The program focuses on the one-on-one coaching and motivational interaction between a personal fitness trainer and a client, incorporating evidence-based cessation approaches into the development of a personal health and wellness plan.
